Isaiah 40
"To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.
Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all of these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
The creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding, no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary,
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall,
but those who hope in the Lord
He will renew their strength.
They will sowar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not be faint.
I absolutely love these verses. For many reasons. One being that it starts out talking about how incredibly gigantic our God is. We can't compare Him with anyone... he created ALL of the stars... He calls each of them by name... He has GREAT power and strength... He is everlasting... the Creator of the ends of the earth. wow. After reminding us of how huge He is, it goes on to say that He, this gigantic God, gives strength to the weak. That he increases the power of the weak. He renews our strength. I just think that is a beautiful picture. That yes, we are tiny, weak and weary, and pitiful compared to Him... yet for some reason that I will never fathom, He cares about me enough to renew my strength. Enough to bestow upon me some of His great power. Enough to allow me to soar on wings like eagles. And I am daily reminded that I will grow tired and weary, but I must cling to the promise in this scripture: but those who hope in the Lord, he WILL renew their strength. He will. Its okay that I grow tired... He tells me that I will. But through those times, I have to place my hope in Him and I will be renewed. And being renewed is a wonderful feeling...
